The Nulhegan Basin - Sculpted by Nature, Worked by Human Hand
A Unique Place Conserved for Habitat, Wildlife, and People
Friends of the Nulhegan Fish and Wildlife Refuge is an independent, nonprofitorganization that supports the Nulhegan Basin Division of the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge and provides services including community outreach, environmental education and interpretive programming, wildlife research, habit conservation, special events, and volunteer staffing and fundraising.

The Nulhegan Basin is located in the towns of Brunswick, Lewis, Ferdinand, and Bloomfield in northeastern Vermont (Directions). The Basin possesses high biological values including the presence of rare species, wetlands, and contiguous migratory bird habitat. A network of gravel roads provide access to the National Wildlife Refuge where visitors can participate in a wide variety of activities including hiking, wildlife observation, photography, hunting and fishing, and environmental education. More detailed information about the Nulhegan Basin can be found under Nulhegan Basin Information and http://www.fws.gov/r5soc/.
A new Visitor Center is open to the public. There are interpretive exhibits and a scenic overlook where visitors can view and photograph much of the Nulhegan Basin landscape. Informational brochures on specific wildlife, including a new bird checklist, are available at the center.
